Ascona Group (‘Ascona’), the 7th largest UK independent forecourt operator and one of the fastest growing companies in Wales for the last three years, is proud to announce that it has made a significant £25,000 donation to Maggie’s, one of the UK’s leading cancer support charities. The donation has been made possible thanks to Nisa’s Make a Difference Locally scheme.

The Nisa Making a Difference Locally was created in May 2008 with a mission to invest in order to build better local communities and to help the group’s retail partners add value to, and further cement their position within the communities in which they operate. Partners are invited to sell specific items in store with a portion of the rail price going to charity. The funds raised are then donated to local charities or good causes - such as local grassroots football teams, foodbanks, hospices or one of the thousands of charities that run throughout the UK – chosen by the Nisa partner.

For Ascona, the partner of choice is Maggie’s which offers free support to people with cancer, as well as their families and friends, from its centres located across the UK. This invaluable support includes practical information about benefits and nutrition, emotional support from qualified experts, and workshops to help people manage the impact of cancer. The £25,000 donation will enable Maggie’s to continue provide vital care to those who need it most.

Ascona’s donation is part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility and its efforts to support health and wellbeing within the communities in which it operates. Ascona has been committed to supporting local communities since its inception, having set up The Ascona Foundation in 2020. The success of the Group over the years has enabled the team to support many charities in the areas in which it operates, with Ascona having donated over £350,000 to local, national and community organisations since 2017.

Paul Stoddart, Retail Trading Director at Ascona Group, commented:

“We are delighted to be able to support Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres through the Nisa Make a Difference Locally scheme. At Ascona, we believe that we have a responsibility to give back to the communities in which we operate in, and our partnership with Nisa allows us to do exactly that.

“Maggie’s is a remarkable organisation that provides invaluable support to people impacted by cancer, and we are pleased we can contribute to their efforts. We hope this donation will help Maggie’s continue its exceptional work and make a difference to the lives of many individuals and families dealing the challenges of cancer. We look forward to being able to support Maggie’s and other worthy charities and organisations in the future.”

Maggie’s Centre Fundraising Manager, Lucia Osmond, said:

“We are incredibly grateful for Ascona Group’s generous donation. Every penny donated to Maggie’s helps us provide free, practical, and emotional support to people with cancer, as well as their families.

“This donation will have a direct impact on the lives of many, allowing us to continue offering expert guidance, a welcoming environment, and much-needed emotional relief during one of life’s toughest challenges. We are grateful for Ascona’s support as it will help us make a real difference to those who need it most.”
